IPL 2021: David Warner Dropped From SRH But Team Lost Again

Yesterday, the management of Sunrisers Hyderabad took a big decision of sacking their team captain David Warner. The decision came after the five defeats of SRH in its six games this season. Moreover, Warner is not at his usual best this year even though he is able to score runs on board. Kane Williamson is appointed as the new skipper of the team.

Williamson successfully led SRH in the 2018 and 19 seasons. He is also the skipper of the New Zealand cricket team and led his side to the World Cup finals. However, the decision of sacking Warner as the captain is receiving mixed responses from the fans.

The management also added that there can be changes in the overseas players’ lineup in the next match against Rajasthan Royals. This could mean that Warner could be benched and English opener Jason Roy may replace him. Roy and Jonny Bairstow open for England and they may repeat the same for SRH tomorrow.

Some fans are defending the management’s call. They say that it could help Warner to concentrate on his natural game and come back strong in the following matches if given a chance. But some others feel that it is a bit unfair to sack him by judging a few games of this edition.

Warner led SRH to three playoffs (excluding the 2018 and 19 seasons, captained by Williamson) and won the title in 2016. He has been a torchbearer for SRH since 2014. His name became synonymous with SRH. Fans fondly call him Warner Bhai/Warner anna. His impeccable performances won us matches in many instances. Fans felt that Warner should have been given another chance. Already, SRH’s chances of qualifying for the playoffs became very bleak as of now.

Surprising everyone, Warner has been dropped from the team and Nabi has been brought to the playing eleven. But, the result is the same. SRH lost their match to Rajasthan Royals. We have to see if Williamson can pull off some miracles with his captaincy in the upcoming games at least.
