The New Miss Universe Is Mexico, India is 3rd Runner-up

The 69th Miss Universe competition has been wrapped up just a few minutes ago and Miss Mexico Andrea Meza was crowned Miss Universe held on Monday at the Seminole Hard Rock Hotel & Casino in Hollywood, Florida.

Brazil’s Julia Gama is the first runner-up, Peru’s Janick Maceta is the second runner-up while India’s Adline Castelino and Dominican Republic’s Kimberly Perez are third runner-up and fourth runner-up, respectively,

So far in India, we have only women who won Miss Universe titles – Sushmita Sen in 1994 and Lara Dutta in 2000. It was really a nail-biting moment when India’s Adline Castelino entered the top 5 today. Though she did not win the title, Adline still made the country proud with her confidence, beauty, and talent.

She took the world by storm in the national costume round when Adline was seen in an elegant 6 yards saree. Adline’s National costume was inspired by the national flower of India, the Lotus, symbolizing knowledge and spirituality. The beautiful costume was designed by Hyderabad based designer – Shravan Kumar.

Adline also looked stunning in an embellished golden gown. Her walk was drenched with poise and elegance. Coming into Top 5 was not an easy task as beauty has been a constant change in the world all these years and she had to live up to the expectations of the judging panel with international beauty standards.

“If I could pen down this feeling without getting overwhelmed about how I felt as I stood there witnessing people around the world cheering, flags waving high and even if I missed seeing I felt like I was home. I thought of you India and what we are going through. The love that people give you when they are hurting themselves is the purest form of love one can experience. I’m grateful to you that at a young age I have experienced that and if I could only show you what I saw that day! I saw hope, a hope that will be ours soon,” wrote Adline about her journey on her Instagram.
