Covid-19: Daily cases drop below 3 Lakh; first in 4 weeks

Since April midweek, India has been reporting over three lakh cases every other day and in between, the toll touched four lakh cases too. For the first time in four weeks, the daily cases count has dropped below three lakh. In the last 24 hours, 2,81,386 new infections have been reported as per the Union Health Ministry.

The active cases has gone up to 35 lakh mark and currently the count is 35,16,997. But the biggest worrisome is the Covid-19 deaths. Since April 28th, India is reporting over three thousands deaths and in the last 24 hours, 4106 people have died. The total death count is 2,74,390.

The positivity rate stands at 17.88 per cent. Maharashtra, Tamil Nadu, Karnataka, Andhra Pradesh and West Bengal are the states which are major contributors of the daily cases. On Sunday Maharashtra hs reported 34,389 cases while Tamil Naidu, Karnataka and Bengal states have filed 33,181, 31,531 and 19,117 new cases respectively. Andhra Pradesh has posted 24,171 new infections.
