Indian billionaire and Adani Group’s chairperson Gautam Adani has now become the second richest person in Asia, according to a report submitted by Bloomberg Billionaires Index. Adani surpassed Chinese billionaire giant and bottled water industrialist Zong Shanshan and claimed this position. Only Mukesh Ambani is ahead of Adani in this list now.
Ambani and Adani are now the top two richest persons in Asia. Ambani also surpassed Shanshan in February this year and claimed the top spot. Interestingly, both Ambani and Adani’s wealth increased when the country is facing a severe economic crisis. On the global richest persons’ list, Ambani and Adani stand in the 13th and 14th positions respectively.
Adani’s wealth witnessed a heavy growth in the recent past due to the success of his renewable energy company Adani Green. He also owns various other companies like Adani Enterprises, Adani Gas, and Adani Transmission. His net worth grew by $32.7 billion in 2020, when the rest of the country is facing the crisis of the pandemic.
