In yet another encounter between police and an unarmed person of color, an African American George Floyd lost his life right under the knee of the police officer who did not pay heed when the man repeatedly said ‘I cannot breathe’. The video of a police officer in Minneapolis knee pinning a 46-year-old George Floyd for alleged use of a counterfeit $20 bill at a local store on Monday night, went viral.

The disturbing video has the police officer brutally knee pinning George Floyd for minutes until the latter became unresponsive after pleading several times to let him breathe. The passerby recorded the video and the voices off-screen were heard asking to check his pulse.

Mayor Jacob Frey released a statement saying that it is a right call to terminate all the four officers involved. The bodycam footage from the scene is being investigated by the Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension alongside the FBI.

Four Minneapolis police officers involved in the death of George Floyd were fired by the department. The protests erupted all over and many have been voicing the support and demand justice for George Floyd’s family.

Famous athletes Lebron James and others spoke out about the death of George Floyd. James posted a picture of Colin Kaepernick kneeling during the national anthem and captioned it “This… … Is Why.”
