The Miss Universe contestant Italy Mora representing Panama was disqualified just days before the competition’s grand finale due to a personal scandal.
Though the official reason for her dismissal is not divulged the rumors suggest it is related to an unauthorized visit to her boyfriend’s room.
Italy Mora allegedly visited her boyfriend Juan Abadia in his hotel room in Mexico without permission from the organizers.
Ms Italy Mora refuted the rumors and claims she was expelled after an argument with Cesar Anel Rodriguez, the director of Miss Universe Panama over the event’s lack of organization and her boyfriend was present during the argument. The dispute escalated after her boyfriend revealed he covered her expenses including a $7000 Carolina Herrera dress, due to the organization’s alleged neglect.
However, the decision to expel her seems to be final. Ms Italy Mora expressed disappointment and noted that she complied with directions, ‘There’s a lot of speculation that needs to be cleared up because it’s impacting my reputation, and emotionally, it’s been difficult. If I weren’t with my boyfriend, I’d be struggling even more,’ said Ms Mora.
