I Love Amaravati, But Vizag Better For Capital: CM Jagan On 3 Capitals In Assembly

Speaking in AP Assembly today, CM YS Jaganmohan Reddy has announced the repealing of 3 Capitals Bill – AP Decentralisation and Inclusive Development of All Regions Bill, 2020. However, Jagan said that there is no going back on the 3 Capitals. He said the move to repeal the bill is to come up with a more comprehensive bill in the interest of the state and all regions. CM Jagan said that he is committed for the inclusive development of the state.

Earlier today, state Finance Minister Buggana Rajendranath has introduced the revoking of the 3 Capitals Bill. At the same time, the CRDA Act that was repealed earlier was revoked in AP Assembly today. Meanwhile, the Metropolitan Region Development Authority has been cancelled.

Don’t Need Super Capital Like Hyderabad

CM Jagan said, “Centralisation and concentration of development was earlier limited to Hyderabad in the united state. That proved to be wrong during the state division. Centralised development is not welcomed by people which was evident with 2019 election results. Once again, a ‘Super Capital’ like Hyderabad is not the need of the hour. What is needed is an inclusive development of the state. That is why we took steps in favour of the decentralised development.”

“Taking an inspiration from Sribhag pact, we believed in the holistic development of all regions of the state. Underdeveloped regions like Uttarandhra and Rayalaseema are also need to be addressed.”
CM Jagan said, “We will soon come up with more integrated, comprehensive and better bill of ‘AP Decentralisation and Inclusive Development of All Regions’.”

Nothing Against Amaravati: Jagan

CM Jagan once again made it clear that he has nothing against Amaravati. He said, “I have nothing against Amaravati. My residence is in Amaravati. I love Amaravati. I have special affection. But to develop the infrastructure here it would cost Rs 2 Crore per acre for 50,000 acres which totals to Rs 1 lakh crore. These cost estimations were as per previous TDP government.”

Jagan said Visakhapatnam is the largest city in the state right now. It has all the infrastructure in place. It doesn’t require to spend additionally on setting up infrastructure facilities. All that Vizag needs is just some special improvisations so that it can compete with cities like Hyderabad in next 5 years. Jagan questioned that why AP youth have to go to cities like Hyderabad, Bangalore and Chennai for opportunities. CM Jagan alleged that several doubts were created among people on 3 Capitals and inclusive development. This led to legal troubles. He concluded that the government would come up with a holistic and better Decentralisation Bill.
