Just TDP Things : Nara Lokesh Hints At Leaving Cabinet Next Term

It is an accepted fact that Nara Lokesh is the next big thing in the Telugu Desam party. While chief minister Chandra Babu has been looking after the administrative duties, Lokesh has been focused on empowering the activists and grassroot level leaders.

However, in an interesting turn of events, Lokesh has entered about possibly leaving the cabinet after the next election. In a grand act of selflessness, Lokesh announced that he is ready to step down to make way for other hard-working leaders.

“The party is seriously considering the proposal of fair play. Those who have served in the same position twice with either have to be elevated to a higher position or will have to take a break in the third term. If this is approved by myself, and also my colleague, Ram Mohan Naidu will exclude ourselves from official positions and serve as common leaders.” Lokesh said.

It must be noted that this is Lokesh’s second term as the IT Minister of Andhra Pradesh. Going by his statement, an MLA or MP could be given only two terms in the same position and must either be promoted or rested for the third term. If this comes to effect, then Lokesh himself could be stepping down from the cabinet, unless of course he gets promoted to a higher cabinet rank.

Being the grandson of TDP founder Sr NTR and the son of the incumbent pioneer of the party, Chandrababu, it is very easy for Lokesh to claim any position he wants in the cabinet. But the fact that he has stated he is ready to even step down to make way for more hardworking leaders.

“TDP is a cadre’s party and we will keep it going this way by encouraging commoners to take up the highest official positions. We are also considering the idea of having a village-level activists in the state-level politburo. Cadre comes first and foremost in TDP and we are firm on this,” Lokesh statues.

Usually, in other parties, we see every leader looking desperate to hold on to their positions. But only in TDP do we see even the chief minister’s son openly speaking about making way for others. This is what sets TDP apart from the rest.
