Filmmakers Must Start Reconsidering Violence Dose?

For a long time now, the Indian film industry had been extensively focussed on aggressive violence in mainstream commercial films in the name of appealing to the masses. This is particularly prevalent in Telugu cinema.

But we have now arrived at a point where there is some sort of negative effect that all the violence that is pumped up in the films is showing negative effects on the society.

Film makers might be using this violence in the name of cinematic liberty and creative presentation, but certain scenes like the ones where the hero carries a fully loaded gun into a school classroom are reminiscent of certain real life incidents.

Today we have witnessed the horrifying incident at government School in Raptadu, where an innocent girl child was brutally mauled by a 21 year-old psychopath with a chainsaw.

We cannot necessarily say that this is entirely inspired from any film as such, but the seeding of the idea of carrying such damaging equipment into schools could be taken from certain films.

There are certain people who might find it cool when a hero does something like this with a cinematic effect while a few others might take inspiration from it. This is not the kind of feeding that can be permitted from films to the general public.

Some may argue that the film received an A certificate from the censor board. However, that doesn’t mean it will be restricted to adult audiences. Within a few days, it will arrive on OTT platforms, where children can also access it. More importantly, such scenes could start circulating on social media, which has become a major part of children’s and teenagers’ daily lives.

People are calling for increased regulations from the concerned governments as most of the films these days are featuring heroes using violent weapons to absolutely dismember the villains. Such degree of violence on screen can definitely have some sort of an impact on a weak mind and that’s for sure.
