Monday Stories: AK 47 & Cult Face Tough Box Office Test

Adarsha Kutumbam is one of the biggest releases at the box office last weekend. Victory Venkatesh and Trivikram Srinivas joined hands for the first time, and the expectations were naturally high. However, the film collected a weekend gross of 37 Cr rupees in India, and 12.6 Cr rupees gross overseas. The film needs to collect a lot more to become a blockbuster. As of now, until and unless there is a surprise, the chances of recovery are low.

Vishwaksen’s Cult is another film at the box office during the weekend. Claimed to be India’s first slasher film, Cult collected a India gross of 4 Cr rupees, with 75 lakh rupees gross overseas. The film needs to collect close to 10 Cr rupees alone in AP to become a hit, but the current situation denotes otherwise. Yet again, Vishwaksen had to face disappointment at the box office.

When it comes to the old releases at the box office, Mythri-Prashanth Neel’s 418 seems to be a winner at the box office. With the film completing its second weekend’s run, the revenue has touched a worldwide gross of 17.23 cr rupees. The team recovered most of the investment through non-theatrical rights, and everything they are getting now is profit.

Garividi Lakshmi is a surprise from Peoples Media Factory. The film performed extremely well in the Uttarandhra region with a revenue of over 5.5 Cr gross in the area alone. Altogether, the film collected close to 9 Cr rupees gross and was steady at the box office. If the makers crack a proper OTT deal, the film would surely be a profitable venture for the producers.

Superstar Rajinikanth’s Jailer 2 is unstoppable at the box office, with the Telugu buyer Naga Vamsi tasting big profits. The film collected a worldwide gross of 800 Cr rupees, and the Telugu states alone generated 92 Cr rupees. It is a big hit recently.

Vijay Deverakonda’s Ranabaali is an encouraging film for the team. Compared to Vijay’s previous films and the negative talk it received, the run at the box office is positive. The film grossed 66 Cr rupees in India and another 11.38 Cr rupees overseas, bringing the total to 77.38 Cr rupees. The film had moderate collections and also grabbed decent talk from audiences.
