For the last couple of days, it is being reported that another big-ticket Bollywood film will have a direct release on Amazon Prime Video. The streaming platform now ended the suspense and announced that it bagged the exclusive rights of Siddharth Malhotra’s action drama Shershaah.
Amazon Prime Video shared a teaser of the film by tweeting, “With love, pride, and happiness in our hearts, we bring you the story of #ShershaahOnPrime.” Directed by Vishnu Vardhan of Panjaa fame, this movie features Kiara Advani as the leading lady.
Shershaah traces the life and journey of Param Veer Chakra awardee, Captain Vikram Batra, who is known for his heroics in the 1999 Kargil War. Malhotra will be reprising the role of Batra in the movie.
The teaser gives us a glimpse of real footage from the Kargil War and the opinions of Batra’s peers on their captain. In the end, we can see Siddharth donning the army uniform with the name of Vikram Batra.
The teaser looks intriguing and the visuals look stunning. Shershaah is being produced by Karan Johar’s Dharma Entertainment and Kaash Entertainment.
Amazon Prime Video announced that the film will premiere on August 12th, ahead of Independence Day. On the flip side, another patriotic film based on the 1971 Indo-Pak war, titled Bhuj: The Pride of India will premiere on Disney+Hotstar on August 13. On the whole, OTT platforms are all set to give patriotic films to Indians during Independence Day weekend.
