In a huge development, the theatres across Telangana are likely to reopen from July 23rd. Earlier in the day Telangana Film Chamber of Commerce members Kishore Babu, Sunil Narang, Abhishek Nama and others met minister Talasani Srinivas Yadav and presented a memorandum.
This memorandum had some measures to be taken by the state government that will relieve the theatre owners and management from the losses they incurred in the last two and half months and also in the first way. The measures included waiving off parking fee, electricity bills, property tax on theatre and reduction of GST.
Theatres across Telangana are shut from April third week and last month, the state government allowed the theatres to reopen with fifty percent seating capacity. However, the producers, exhibitors and distributors were not ready as the covid-19 cases were still reporting in decent numbers. Moreover the producers want the theatres in AP to also reopen so that they can expect some returns of their investment.
Also we hear that theatres in Telangana might be allowed hundred percent seating capacity which is a daring move. The state government is yet to release the guidelines on theatre operations. Probably people who get vaccinated at least with the first dose might be allowed inside the cinema halls.
