The suspense of the Movie Artists Association’s (MAA) elections may end soon. Going by the current situation in the association, it is heard that the elections will be held in September this year. The Executive Committee will hold a meeting regarding the same this week.
According to the reports, EC will hold a meeting on Wednesday or Thursday. For the first time, the meeting will be virtual. During this meet, EC will discuss the dates of election, Annual General Body Meeting (AGM) date, premium that has to be paid for the lifetime insurance of the members and various other issues.
Disciplinary Committee’s head Krishnam Raju, Legal Advisor and Auditor will also take part in this meet, along with the members of EC. According to the bylaws of MAA, the gap between EC and AGM’s meets should be 21 days. Thus, AGM may happen in the third week of August.
Apparently, EC decided that MAA elections cannot be held with COVID restrictions. If there will not be any third wave, there are high chances of the polling to be held in September.
Once the president announces the election dates, EC will not have any power in the proceedings.
Election Officer will hold the power of the MAA proceedings until the polls are held. Even the Election Officer will be appointed by the President of MAA.
