The theatres have been reopened in most of the states, following various occupancy and COVID-19 rules. Many films are re-announcing their new release dates for the last few days. The two big releases that the entire country is looking for, are RRR and KGF Chapter:2.
RRR is being directed by SS Rajamouli and features Jr. NTR and Ram Charan in the lead roles. As it is Rajamouli’s immediate film after Baahubali 2, there are high expectations on it. The makers are announcing that the release will be on October 23, if there is no further lockdown in the country.
On the flip side, KGF 2 is the success of its highly successful part one. There is a huge hype on this movie for the last three years. Initially, the makers announced that it will hit the screens on July 16. But that didn’t happen due to the second lockdown. The new release date is yet to be announced.
Though the cinema halls are opened, many of them are still running with 50% occupancy rules. States with a big market like Maharashtra and Tamil Nadu are yet to reopen theatres. Meanwhile, the experts are saying that the third wave is inevitable and India will witness around one lakh cases a day in October.
These factors are making viewers and analysts doubt the release of these two biggies. There is no chance of them opting for an OTT release. They will definitely release in theatres, but only when the entire country opens with 100% occupancy. That may happen only in mid-2022.
