Release Dates And Rajamouli: Not A Big Deal

Amidst the corona crisis, the biggest challenge is to pull the audience to theatres but it looks like the attempt is only partially successful as people are yet to come out of their homes confidently. But then, the arrival of a big film like #RRR will surely boost morale and make movie lovers step into theatres. At this juncture, there comes this talk on director legend Rajamouli’s RRR release date.

Well, in fact, #RRR was supposed to hit cinemas on July 30th, 2020 itself but the first-ever lockdown did the unthinkable to the whole world and theatre business as well. And then the makers thought of releasing the Jr NTR and Ram Charan multi-starrer on Jan 8, 2021, and later opted for Oct 13, 2021. As there is a huge buzz around that Rajamouli is likely to go for another new release date, many are wondering if this should be a reason to worry.

From the business point of view, it’s not a big deal for a Rajamouli movie to change multiple release dates. Even in the case of Baahubali, things went south many times, but the ultimate entertainment this top-notch filmmaker provides to the audiences overcomes it all. Even now, considering the magnitude of post-production works involved including the lavish VFX Rajamouli is bringing to the silver screen, one could say that, the more he delays the date, the more quality product he is coming up with.

#RRR might hit cinemas at any date, but then, whenever it comes it is like a festival. And with small heroes trying their level best to get film lovers to theatres, the onus lies on mighty Rajamouli to do the best for that. With issues like AP Govt’s ticketing and security as well as safety reasons to be discussed at large, one could understand that Rajamouli will opt for the best date that satisfies all the parties.

In the end, if the Baahubali maker kicks start the new age era of film watching in theatres in the covid era, all the distributors and exhibitors will hail him, no matter the release date gets postponed as many times as it could.
