Radhe Shyam Gets Filmed In AP’s Heritage Temple

The makers of Radhe Shyam ended the shooting part of the film last month by canning the final schedule in a 15th Century temple located at Gandikota in the Jammalamadugu region of Andhra Pradesh. The team felt blessed to end the film on a spiritual note after three years of hard work.

This temple was built in the era of Sri Krishna Deva Raya, say the sources. As Radhe Shyam is a period drama, the makers felt that it would be an ideal location to shoot some of the important sequences of it.

Speaking to the Deccan Chronicle, the film’s art director Ravinder Reddy said, “I had been to this place long back. In June, when we went on a recce for suitable locations for our temple scenes, I thought this temple would be ideal, given its heritage setting.”

“The temple scenes are crucial and drive the narrative. We were specifically looking for a temple built entirely in stone and this fits the bill,” he further added.

Ravinder Reddy said that they had to build some additional setups like navagraha, homam place, dance hall, and courtyard in the temple. Apparently, around 300 members worked for 10 days in building these sets. It seems that all the materials were transported from Hyderabad in 12 trucks. Temple accessories like rudrakshas and lamps were brought from Benaras. He also said that around 1000 Veda Pandits were brought from Vedic Schools to participate in the shoot. Even Aghoras will be seen in these temple sequences.

Directed by Radha Krishna Kumar, Radhe Shyam features Prabhas and Pooja Hegde as the leads. It is all set to release on January 14, 2022.
