Tom Cruise Film Faces ₹2,300 Crore Losses?

Among recent Hollywood releases, Tom Cruise’s Digger made some noise before release. However, after its release, negative reviews and lukewarm word of mouth led to huge box-office losses. According to trade reports, many people felt expectations were not met. The film is a comedy drama, and the audiences expected something different.

A report says the film could lose $250m, and with this latest disappointment, it will be difficult for the production house to make original films going forward, despite the project being tagged with Tom Cruise’s name. From the time the film was greenlit, everyone believed that investing in Digger would be a gamble.

Comedy dramas usually don’t do well at the box office, and the film is unique in its own way, though the trailer also failed to generate the desired response. The film, moreover, is not a sequel too. Overall, the trade calls it a cost failure.

The film’s logline, “After unleashing a disaster that threatens to destroy everything, the most powerful man in the world embarks on a frantic mission to prove that he’s humanity’s saviour,” looks dry and didn’t translate well on screen.
