Christmas or Sankranthi: RRR considering two dates?

The film ‘RRR’ is the most ambitious and one of the highly anticipated films. However, the team of ‘RRR’ is finding it difficult to zero upon a release date because of many factors. With many big Tollywood films locked in their releases for Sankranthi 2022, ‘RRR’ team is in a big confusion.

Incidentally Rajamouli thought of bringing the movie in summer 2022 but it would be a long wait and with Maharashtra and other north states gearing up to reopen theatres, Bollywood industry too is announcing release dates and a majority of them are lined up for summer next year. This doubled the troubles for Rajamouli and team.

So after hectic consultations and deliberations, ‘RRR’ team has zeroed upon two dates. December 24th and January 12th are the dates being considered by the team of ‘RRR’ and they reportedly pitched them to a few distributors. We hear that even distributors are divided as some are in favour of Christmas release while the rest are okay with Sankranthi release despite huge competition.

The second date will make ‘RRR’ clash with ‘Bheemla Nayak’ and also other Sankranthi releases such as Mahesh Babu’s ‘Sarkaru Vaari Paata’ and Prabhas ‘Radhe Shyam.’ And highly placed sources say that ‘RRR’ is likely to make way at the box office for Sankranthi 2022.

On the other hand we hear that irrespective of ‘RRR’ release, ‘Radhe Shyam’ producers are firm to release the movie on January 14th.

So the 2022 box office would witness a mega clash never before in the history of Indian cinema.
