Closing Theatres Broke My Heart: Nikhil To AP Govt

After the AP Government slashed down the movie ticket prices, a total of 175 theatres have shut down last week. The YSRCP government’s decision to reduce the prices of cinema tickets and the subsequent raids on theatres at many places has riled the film fraternity, besides leaving the exhibitors uninterested to run their business anymore.

The screening of Shyam Singha Roy, Pushpa and Akhanda made producers and exhibitors relieved a lot as audiences were turning up in good numbers to watch these new releases. But the process has now been miserably interrupted. Speaking on this, actor Nikhil Siddharth expressed his concern and how closing theatres broke his heart.

Comparing theatres to temples, Nikhil thanked the Telangana government for supporting TFI. He further requested the AP Government to consider the industry’s losses due to the decisions made. Of late, several exhibitors are upset with the recent raids and have decided to shut down the theatres. However, a few of them continued to screen films after they received pressure from the distributors.

The worse situation right now in Andhra left several celebrities concerned and Nikhil requested the government to allow premium or balcony tickets with flexible ticket rates. Love Story and then Akhanda kept cash registers ringing, but AP Govt’s harsh decision by raising cinema halls to ensure implementation of fixed rates for movie tickets made actors like Nani, Sidharth, and Nikhil voice their opinions.
