Sometimes few web series don’t get promoted well but then the content inside them will make them a blockbuster overnight. That happened with the likes of Sacred Games and Mirzapur earlier, and later we have Scam 1992 getting a similar attention. Joining this list is none other than ‘The Great Indian Murder’ that is being streamed on Hotstar now.
Based on the book “The Six Suspects” written by Vika Swarup, super talented director Tigmanshu Dhulia has now adapted into an 8 episode series for Hotstar featuring Scam 1992 fame Prathik Gandhi and Rheroine Richa Chaddha. The story deals with the death of a tyrannous businessman and how everyone including his father tries to exploit it to get into power, while six other innocent people are booked as suspects regarding the murder.
While critics slammed the show for poor storytelling, which anyway OTT audience will not agree about, Telugu folks got connected to the story well. Because the characters resemble various present-day’s powerful people in the two Telugu states who actually tried to exploit the death of a powerful person in their family and how they ran affairs with star heroines as well.
Also, the iconic mockery of the judicial system where a superstar was acquitted in a hit and run case saying that there is no proof if he drank water or vodka, is also used in the series in a different way. All these aspects actually made the show pretty interesting while many critics from film and media are worried that even they are treated as jokers inside the show.
