Published by

It’s another sad day for the music fraternity as the King of Disco, Alokesh Lahiri aka Bappi Lahiri, passed away on Tuesday night at age 69 at a private hospital in Mumbai. He popularized the use of synthesized disco music in Indian cinema. Recalling his memories with Bappi Da, Megastar Chiranjeevi took to Twitter and mourned the demise of the musician with a heartfelt note and throwback pic.

He wrote that he is deeply anguished with the demise of the legend. He recalled how some of his hit films back then were composed by Bappi. “Will always remember your unique style and enthusiasm,” Chiru tweeted. “I had a great association with Bappi da. He gave numerous chartbusters for me which contributed immensely to my films popularity. My heartfelt condolences to all his near and dear,” Chiru added.

Bappi worked for Chiranjeevi films such as State Rowdy(1989), Gang Leader(1991), Rowdy Alludu (1991), and Big Boss (1995). Bappi’s first song in Telugu was for the 1986 film Simhasanam, which was directed, written, edited and produced by Krishna. The late Bappi also composed for films starring Krishna, Mohan Babu, Venkatesh and others. Meanwhile, Harish Shankar, Mohan Babu, Khushbu Sundar and other celebs also offered their condolences to the legend on Twitter.
