Manchu Lakshmi Unfolds Casting Couch & Body-Shaming Experiences

On the occasion of International Women’s Day 2022, Lakshmi Manchu, one of the power ladies in Tollywood, spoke on facing the casting couch and body-shaming. Despite being the daughter of senior and well-established actor Mohan Babu, Lakshmi says she had to face the unfortunate and blood-boiling situations of the casting couch.

She was asked in a recent interview by a news portal about facing sexism, typecast, casting couch in her career so far. Lakshmi Manchu said that this has been a common issue for women all over the world and they are something girls have to deal with at all phases and professions. “IT, Banking, Films, I know a lot of women from different sectors who face such atrocities everywhere. Yes, I face this all the time,” she said

Lakshmi further adds that initially, she was in a staunch belief that nothing of such sort would happen to her because of her father and the family she comes in. “But they are ruthless. Nobody is fair and kind anywhere.” Lakshmi further revealed about body-shaming that she faced. Body shaming has affected humans all over the world for decades now, and it’s growing day by day.

The actress said she has been trolled multiple times.”When I was nice and curvy, they said I was too curvy. Now when I’m skinny, they call me too skinny” adding that one cannot make everyone happy. “You cannot be a people pleaser. Please yourself, find yourself and know who you are and that’s the journey of going on helps”. Lakshmi said that it used to affect her initially but decided to not lose her peace anymore.

“You will be judged no matter what, you will feel guilty no matter what. Just don’t ever stop yourself from anything you want to do. Be fearless and fabulous,” Lakshmi Manchu ends her inspiring interview on Women’s day.
