Jersey Failed, But This Cricketer’s Story Is A Hit

Last Friday, finally the much awaited release of the Hindi version of National Award winning Telugu film Jersey happened. Featuring Shahid Kapoor in the shoes of Nani, the film has had a grand release but many thought that KGF 2 and RRR might crush it. Even before they did something like that, the film’s poor content and lack of magic in the Hindi version screenplay had won negative reviews.

While Shahid Kapoor’s story of a failed cricketer who rises like a phoenix has failed to charm the audience, there is another such story that got all the attention. However, this is the real story of cricketer Pravin Tambe, a biopic indeed, as the Maharashtra bowler made it to IPL at the age of 41 though he never played any international or first class cricket. Titled “Kaun Pravin Tambe?” the film was released on Disney+Hotstar on April 1st.

According to stats digged by Bollywood media, Kaun Pravin Tambe amassed nearly 3.4 million views in the last week itself after it got released on the popular OTT platform. So far it got more than 15-20 million views and that is a super hit phenomenon we have to say. As it happens to be a biopic, many got interested in it, and surely the IPL season added more attention to the movie.

Also, critics and audiences are appreciating the film’s content too, which has talented actor Shreyas Talpade playing the lead role of Pravin Tambe.
