Bollywood Tastes The Bitter Medicine Yet Again

From some months, Bollywood is trying to recover at the box office through their own releases, but that is not happening. From Pushpa to RRR to KGF 2, south films have made it very big at the Hindi box office. And then we have Kamal’s Vikram also doing a good job. At the same time, though Bollywood came up with many releases, the result is getting favored.

Though the movie Bhool Bhulayya 2 has finally worked out at the Bollywood box office, giving it a ₹ 160+ crores nett collection already, that success is not getting repeated.

Many thought Akshay Kumar’s Prithviraj will work big time owing to the fact that it is a historical epic movie and also the Hindu factor might work out as the whole country’s mood is in favour of those films post “The Kashmiri Files”. But “Prithviraj” hasn’t done any extra ordinary feat.

Despite releasing in a huge number of theatres last week, Prithviraj managed to get only ₹ 55 crores nett box office collection in the week’s run. After the first weekend, the film showed no sign of recovery as the First Monday’s collection dropped to ₹ 5 crores while it collected ₹ 16 crores on Sunday. And then, the film tumbled big time, crashing the industry’s hopes all over again.

For making movies with poor content, Bollywood is struggling with this bitter medicine for some time and we have to see who will save it finally.
