The biggest pre-release discussion around Venkatesh’s Aadarsha Kutumbam was its alleged similarities with Arjun’s Blast Zone. There were reports that the makers had made significant changes and even reshot portions to avoid comparisons. The teaser further fuelled these doubts, but the final product has largely put them to rest.
While there are a few moments that might remind audiences of Blast Zone, particularly around the interval block, the overall narratives are quite different. Trivikram has brought his trademark treatment, entertainment and dark comedy into the film, giving it a distinct identity. Venkatesh’s Chittibabu, Sreenidhi Shetty’s entertaining characterisation and the children’s performances add to the fun.
Venkatesh’s characterisation and the film’s treatment make the two films stand apart, leaving little scope for a direct comparison. Aadarsha Kutumbam and Blast Zone do not have much room for such comparisons beyond a few sequences.
Meanwhile, Aadarsha Kutumbam appears to be heading towards a promising opening weekend. Ticket sales are picking up, with bookings trend crossing 10,000 tickets per hour during evening and night shows. The momentum is encouraging, and the film seems to have a comfortable weekend ahead despite mixed reviews.
However, the real test begins on Monday. With a relatively high break-even target, the film needs to maintain strong weekday occupancies and carry its momentum towards Diwali. Distributors are hoping the Venkatesh-Trivikram combination will deliver the required box office numbers.
