BO: Bad Week For Tollywood

Last Friday, the Tollywood Box Office witnessed the release of several small films. The Friday which was supposed to be Big Friday for small movies turned out to be a Bad Friday. None of the films that released last week could sustain the heat at the ticket windows. The collections of all the films that were released last Friday were dropped heavily on Monday. This is indeed a bad week for Tollywood till the release of Gopichand and Maruthi’s Pakka Commercial that is releasing in theatres on July 1st.

Sammathame

Kiran Abbavaram and Chandini Chowdary’s Sammathame failed to meet the expectations. The youthful romance with a message towards the climax got mixed reviews. It is another failure for Kiran Abbavaram whose last film Sebastian PC 524 flopped at the cinemas. Though Sammathame got better numbers than the rest, that is not at all enough to set the cash registers ringing. The collections have dropped on Monday.

RGV’s Konda

Ram Gopal Varma’s Konda is a biopic of politician Konda Murali. The film turned out to be a colossal flop in RGV’s career joining the legion of his failures. In order to avoid competition, Konda was released on Thursday, a day ahead of other releases. But Konda could nowhere show impact. The collections of the films were so meager. RGV should introspect his choice of subjects and his filmmaking.

Chor Bazaar

Akash Puri and George Reddy fame Jeevan Reddy gave an unimpressive show getting a bad result at the BO. The film got poor reviews. The word of the mouth is also not in favour of the film. Thus, Chor Bazaar’s prospects at the theatres were affected leaving a big disappointment to Akash Puri. Akash’s last film Romantic got a better result compared to Chor Bazaar although even the former failed at BO.

7 Days 6 Nights

Senior filmmaker MS Raju, who has a rich legacy of producing blockbuster films, made a comeback as director with Dirty Hari that appealed to OTT audiences. However, his subsequent bold and youthful road movie 7 Days 6 Nights failed to recreate the magic at the theatres. With no major cast, this film got crushed in the competition at the cinemas.

Gangster Gangaraju

Laksh Chadalavada’s crime drama has got lukewarm response at the cinemas. It couldn’t attract the crowds to cinemas. With such a huge noise of promotions of other films, Gangster couldn’t withstand and failed. The film’s content is also not as expected disappointing critics as well as movie goers.
