Delhi Showdown: Rahul Gandhi Leads INDIA Bloc’s Massive Rally

In what could be a massive political showdown, New Delhi is witnessing huge rallies by both the ruling and opposition parties on Sunday. While India Bloc parties have undertaken a public rally to Ramlila Maidan as mark of protest against Chief Election Commissioner Gynanesh Kumar, BJP leaders have launched counter rallies against these narratives.
Led by Congress leader Rahul Gandhi along with top alliance leaders including Akhilesh Yadav and Mamata Banerjee, the India Bloc march started from Connaught Place over the alleged electoral malpractices.

Thousands of supporters also gathered with the leaders and accompanied them to the protest site. Chief Minsters from several Congress ruled states and other prominent leaders also joined the rally

Addressing the crowd, opposition leaders demanded the immediate resignation of the Chief Election Commissioner and vowed to continue their national campaign to safeguard voting rights. They insisted that protecting democratic institutions is more vital than short term political disputes.

Rahul Gandhi came down heavily on BJP government for using police personnel to shut down the shops in the busy areas of the capital region adjoining the rally route. Though Rahul Gandhi appealed to all those participating in the rally to buy from shops, concerns have raised over losses to businesses ahead of the key festive season.

Trade organizations like the Chamber of Trade and Industry stated that around rupees 12,000 crore worth of festive trade across 20 major commercial hubs was put at risk due to restrictions.

On the other hand, the Bharatiya Janata Party also organized rallies at different parts of the city led by various leaders. They launched a sharp counter protest in West Delhi and slammed the INDIA bloc’s timing. Senior BJP leaders called the rally an orchestrated drama aimed at creating public inconvenience and hurting small traders during prime business days.

Meanwhile, the Cockroach Janata Party, which started the entire campaign against the CEC last month, has now only extended support but didn’t take part in the rally to maintain neutrality.
