Director Hanu Raghavapudi is currently high on the success of his recent outing Sita Ramam. Starring Dulquer Salmaan and Mrunal Thakur in the lead roles, this romantic drama is having a dream run at the box office.
Meanwhile, not many people know that Hanu was supposed to direct the Telugu remake of the Tamil blockbuster Asuran. Initially, the producers held talks with Hanu but he rejected the offer. Eventually, it went to Srikanth Addala and that’s how Narappa was formed.
Recently, Hanu revealed why he had to turn down that offer. Speaking in an interview, Hanu said that he is a huge fan of director Vetrimaaran. “Whenever his film is getting released, I will fly to Chennai to watch its first-day first show,” said Hanu.
“Asuran is one of my favourite works of Vetrimaaran. So, I felt that I should stay away from remaking it. That’s why I had to turn down the offer,” he further added.
Hanu concluded by saying that he wants to remake at least a film of Vetrimaaran in Telugu. “I hope to remake his films as hard-hitting as they are in the original language,” stated Hanu.
