It is Mahesh Babu’s birthday today and the superstar’s fans celebrated it in a grand way. The whole social media is in a trance of Pokiri mania. Mahesh Babu’s yesteryear blockbuster Pokiri hit the screens again and the response was unexpectedly huge.
The movie that was watched many times in theaters and on television receiving this big response for a re-release after 16 years is phenomenal. The trade also is shockingly gigantic for a re-released movie. There were 175 shows planned initially and but later the count went up to 325. The movie grossed more than a crore with special shows.
The restored movie creating wonders is one angle, but then it is clear that the fans are sending a message to their Superstar. Mahesh Babu had been making movies that have a message or a good deed since Srimanthudu. Be it Bharat Ane Nenu, Maharshi, or the latest Sarkaru Vaari Paata, Mahesh Babu plays the social reformer in one form or the other. Also, his directors have been bringing similar subjects and that resulted in the meager response for Sarkaaru Vaari Paata.
The humongous response for Pokiri is an honest message from his fans that they are expecting pure entertainment from Mahesh Babu. They are expecting movies like Pokiri, and Okkadu with entertainment and mass elements.
The response would not have been the same if any other message-oriented film of Mahesh Babu goes for a re-release. Hopefully, the mass vintage Superstar will be back with Rajamouli’s film or Trivikram’s film.
