For being such a big film, a magnum opus of sorts, actually Maniratnam’s “Ponniyan Selvan 1” should carry more buzz in the Telugu states too, but the film team’s simple promotions haven’t yielded anything big here. With no superhit song, nor any stunning teaser or trailer, currently, the film is getting attention but not at a superior level. So what’s the mood of Telugu folks towards this film?
If we have to go by the advance bookings that happened already, some posh and creamy multiplex theatres in Hyderabad have seen terrific bookings, as some theatres like AMB Cinemas are already saying that the First Day of PS1 is housefull. But in other big multiplexes, the occupancy is just above 50% while single screens haven’t received much footfalls so far. This is the situation in a top tier city like Hyderabad and the likes of Vizag and Vijayawada are no different.
However, in other centres, there are not many bookings happenings and we can expect that the film’s distributor Dil Raju’s careful placement of the movie in some top centers in the two Telugu states might draw direct walk-ins tomorrow for the morning show. Depending on the talk that emerges, Ponniyan Selvan 1 will witness either growth or anything otherwise.
Mostly first day first show talk and reviews are going to become crucial for PS1 to make it big in Telugu as well as Hindi, while the film is witnessing phenomenal bookings in the state of Tamilnadu for the Tamil version.
