One of the nation’s most sought-after directors after the likes of SS Rajamouli and Prashant Neel is none other than Sukumar. Only these three filmmakers have so far delivered films that ran in a mind-boggling way at the whole of the Indian box office. The super success of “Pushpa” in Bollywood and other states has kept this creative director on a higher pedestal. So what’s the update now?
We are hearing that Sukumar is not charging a penny from Mythri Movie Makers for the making of “Pushpa2”. While the director is in the slot of ₹15-20 crores pay packet before Pushpa was released, the ₹190+ crores ‘share’ collection from the worldwide box office after the movie was sold at ₹150 crores for the theatrical market, has upped the range of Sukumar. Including the digital and satellite rights, the producers took home nearly ₹300 crores. That will surely lead Sukumar to demand easily ₹50-70 crores remuneration while Allu Arjun who charged ₹50 crores for Pushpa is said to be taking home ₹110+ crores for the second part.
However, rather than demanding huge money from the producers and pushing them under a sort of financial pressure, Sukumar is said to have made “Sukumar Writings” a co-producer of the film. He will be taking a share from the nett profits of the movie rather than taking any money now.
And that share might easily come up to ₹70-90 crores if the reports are to be believed.
Pushpa 2 shooting was supposed to start from October 2nd, but the makers will be rolling it after the Dasara festival, say sources.
