Director Mohan Raja made his directorial debut with the film Hanuman Junction in the year 2001. After two decades, the filmmaker returned to Telugu cinema with the film Godfather, starring Megastar Chiranjeevi in the lead role. Godfather is the official remake of the Malayalam hit film Lucifer. However, it is surprising to learn how Mohan Raja got a chance to direct Megastar Chiranjeevi. Apparently, he was in plans to direct Superstar Mahesh Babu.
In a recent media interaction, Mohan Raja opened up that he had prepared a subject for Mahesh Babu. With the help of producer NV Prasad, Mohan Raja met Mahesh and narrated the subject. During the same time, Chiranjeevi was also looking for a director to helm Godfather.
Initially, Sujeeth was approached for the project, and later, many names, including VV Vinayak, came into consideration. Finally, NV Prasad recommended the name of Mohan Raja to Chiranjeevi, and eventually, the director met Chiranjeevi. After the initial round of discussions, Chiranjeevi locked Mohan Raja for the prestigious project, which became a blockbuster today.
However, there is no clarity on the director’s film with Mahesh Babu.
