Almost all the critics who have watched the movie “Swathimuthyam” have felt quite happy about the way this movie got crafted. So many common audiences have also heaped praises on the lead pair, newcomer Ganesh Bellamkonda and Tamil beauty Varsha Bollamma as well. But then, the film is suffering from a lack of collections and the footfalls inside theatres are also strangely low. Wonder why?
During the promotion of Swathimuthyam movie, the one question that was frequently asked by the media is why this film is competing with the likes of Megastar Chiranjeevi’s Godfather and Nagarjuna Akkineni’s The Ghost.
At that time, producer Naga Vamsi stated that even his movie is also a big film as it is coming from a big production house. But the point is when there are two biggest stars like Chiru and Nag in theaters, who would anyway rush to a small movie (means a film that has a new star cast or with heroes that have fewer followers)?
With Chiranjeevi hitting the ball out of the park, even Nagarjuna’s film is suffering at the box office right now, and if that is the fate of The Ghost, we can easily understand where Swathimuthyam stands. Had Vamsi been a little careful and released the film at a time when there are no other big movies around, or at least a week after “Godfather”, surely the result would have been more fruitful. The over confidence that Swathimuthyam could stand against mighty movies has resulted in the current situation anyway.
