Without mincing any words, we could keep the record straight, saying that Megastar Chiranjeevi’s ‘Acharya’ is a disastrous film while Kamal Haasan’s ‘Vikram’ is an epic blockbuster in terms of the revenues it made from the box office. Then how come Acharya fared better than Vikram? Well, that’s how things work on TV.
Recently on the eve of Diwali, Kamal Haasan’s superhit film Vikram, which was directed by Lokesh Kanagaraj, got screened on the small screen. The film registered a TRP of a mere 4.42, which is a shocker for the observers. At the same time, Vijay’s Beast got a TRP of 12.62 on the same day, much to anyone’s surprise. And recently when Megastar’s Acharya was streamed on TV for the first time, this film registered 6.3 TRPs. And these numbers speak a lot about the success of these movies.
Almost all of the audience watched Kamal’s Vikram on the silver screen, and they watched it big time on Disney+Hotstar as well. For that reason, the film got no attention at all even though it got streamed on Diwali, a holiday. At the same time, both Vijay’s Beast and Chiru’s Acharya are duds at the box office, and they have got better TRPs as most people want to check what’s wrong with them. Rather than wasting their money on tickets, they have waited for television previews to watch these films.
At the same time, Vijay’s Beast is at least a slick action film that one can watch for a while, and Acharya happens to be a bore-fest. So that also explains why Vijay’s movie got huge TRPs.
