2022: A Year Of Successful Sequels!

Tollywood film industry’s success rate heavily depends on multiple factors and of late, the story is proved to be the major element that brought success to the films. Interestingly, the year 2022 is considered to be a good year for sequels. Many sequels that were released this year have become hits and this is quite unexpected.

Usually, there is a myth in the Telugu film industry itself that sequels will never work out. But, however, we have a list of sequels that became hits this year, to prove the same.

Drushyam 2

Victory Venkatesh scored a hit with Drushyam in 2014. In 2021, he came back with Drushyam 2. It was a remake of the Malayalam film Drishyam 2. Even though it had a direct digital release, Drushyam 2 was received well by the audience.

Bangarraju

King Nagarjuna came up with Banggarraju, which is a sequel to his 2016 film Soggade Chinni Nayana. It was released during Sankranthi this year and became a box-office success.

Karthikeya 2

Nikhil Siddartha and director Chandoo Mondeti came up with Karthikeya 2 in August. It went on to become a pan-India success by collecting more than Rs. 100 crores. It was a bigger success than its predecessor.

KGF Chapter: 2

Yash’s KGF 2 emerged as one of the biggest hits in the history of Indian cinema by collecting more than Rs. 1000 crores. It was also a bigger hit than its predecessor.

Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2

Bollywood actor Kartik Aaryan replaced Akshay Kumar in the sequel of the 2007 film Bhool Bhulaiayya. Just like the first part, even this movie became a super hit at the box office.

HIT: The Second Case

HIT 2 features Adivi Sesh in the lead role while HIT’s first part featured Vishwak Sen as the hero. HIT 2 was released the other day and is getting a unanimous positive response from the audience. It is expected to become a box office winner for sure.

All the above movies have worked out big time at the box office. Let us hope that more franchises emerge and give a fantastic cinematic experience to our audience.
