Other day, the latest movie of Bollywood stars Vicky Kaushal and Kiara Advani, Govinda Naam Mera got directly released on Disney+Hotstar. While critics haven’t liked the film much, general movie lovers are loving it a lot for its comedy and twists.
‘Govinda Naam Mera’ has the colour of “DJ Tillu” written all over it and the major story plot points as well the screenplay twists along with the heroine’s characterisation reminds us of “DJ Tillu” only. While it happens to be the murder of heroine’s husband in DJ Tillu, it is the murder of hero’s wife in Govinda Naam Mera. And the story flow is almost similar, as it comes out that the heroine tries to over-smart the hero, but in the end she gets the ultimate ‘twist’ from the hero, who is super smart than her.
The grave digging scene, the way the hero teaches a lesson to the intelligent heroine, then he meets her to tell her how she cheated him, the policeman (Brahmaji character), and drug sellers; everything looks like a direct lift from the ideas of “DJ Tillu” only.
However, some say, all these ideas are actually lifted from a French film, so that’s the reason maybe both DJ Tillu and Govinda Naam Mera are looking pretty much the same. So simply we can say, both these films are similar ideas camouflaged with different setups. However, DJ Tillu is written by Siddhu Jonnalagadda, while Sashank Khaitan wrote and directed Govinda Naam Mera, for the record.
