Actor Nagarjuna Rao Akkineni was issued a ‘stop work’ notice by the panchayat of Mandrem in Pernem, North Goa, for allegedly carrying out building & excavation works illegally at Ashvewada on Wednesday. This news came in as the works are carried out without any board displaying the details.
Mandrem Sarpanch Amit Sawant has issued the notice under the Goa Panchayat Raj Act 1994. As per the notice, the respondent has been involved in illegal activity in the village jurisdiction.
“Whereas it is noticed by this Panchayat that you are doing alleged illegal construction and excavation, in property bearing survey no. 211/2 B at Ashvewada, Mandrem, village without obtaining prior permission from the competent authorities and this Panchayat,” the notice reads.
Speaking to the media, Amith Sawant said “Digging has been done in the hilly area. They should have shown permission if they had it. Hence we have served a ‘stop work’ notice. We are not aware if he is an actor, but he should do it legally. We are not against legal projects.”
