After getting released on Netflix, surely SS Rajamouli’s magnum opus RRR got special treatment from fans of the West and that has finally led to the movie creating ripples in Hollywood as well. Today the film has won Golden Globe for Best Song and many are expecting an Oscar nomination as well for the same song. Here’s an interesting observation now.
Though producer DVV Danayya has poured crores of rupees to carve out this film, surprisingly he’s not seen anywhere near the Hollywood promotions of the movie. Whether it is those premieres in Japan or special shows in Los Angeles, it is only Rajamuli and his two heroes, Ram Charan and Jr NTR, who are literally promoting the film.
Even at the Golden Globes, the producer hasn’t even made his presence felt. What is to be noted is that, even MM Keeravani also didn’t mention his name after winning the award.
Some say that Danayya is really vexed with Rajamouli for making him spend close to ₹400 crores for the film, while the returns are not with great profits like it happened in the case of the Baahubali franchise.
At the same time, with Rajamouli not given any budget for Hollywood promotions, and the director spending every single penny from his pocket, even Danayya is also said to be maintaining distance from the film.
However, the global success of RRR could be attributed to every single penny spent by Danayya to make the movie, and he should be part of the euphoria no matter what the differences are. We have to see what will Rajamouli and Danayya really say about this whole thing.
