Prabhas Heroine’s Sweet Drama Is Good, But

Pinning hopes on her Malayalam film “Christy”, Prabhas’ Raja Deluxe heroine Malavika Mohanan promoted the film big time. She has even dragged the name of Nayanthara, rather unknowingly, such that the film gets massive attention. The film got released last week, so, what’s the result?

Directed by newcomer Alvin Henry, Christy has a simple story of a school-going boy, named Roy, falling in love with his tuition teacher, Christy Joseph (Malavika Mohanan) and how his life changes after she goes to Maldives to work as a teacher. After expressing his love to Christy a couple of times, she wouldn’t stop him but then keeps on using him to do his personal work. Finally, when Roy spends all of his earnings to go to Maldives, Christy reveals to authorities that she doesn’t even know him. This ending is superbly emotional and touching too, but not everyone will like it.

The film got good ratings in Kerala, while it collected an average of ₹60-80 lakhs every day in the first weekend. More than Malavika’s screen presence, it is youngster Matthew Thomas who is getting noted for his brilliant performance. But then, Malavika is quite happy that the film is getting huge applause. But with some critics saying that the film’s Act-3 isn’t satisfactory as the relationship dynamics and writing went for a toss, the actress should wait for the real big blockbuster.
