For a film that did average at the box office, though its rustic appeal has impressed many, it looks like some issues between Telugu producers are not going to let that happen. From a long time, it is being heard that writer Prasanna Kumar Bezawada who wrote films like Nenu Local and Dhamaka is turning director as he is said to debut with Akkineni Nagarjuna’s movie. But here’s the twist to it.
Other day producer Abhishek Agarwal released a press note, saying that they have the rights to the Malayalam film Porinju Mariam Jose and will be producing it in Telugu very soon. It is now coming out that even Nagarjuna wanted to remake this very ‘mass’ film but the rights are vested with Abhishek now, and the producer is said to be not interested to give rights to the senior hero. And there is a reason behind this.
Apparently, a struggling director was supposed to direct Nagarjuna in this remake, but at the last minute, the senior hero is said to have brought Prasanna into the picture and entrusted him with the responsibility of directing it on the Annapurna Studios banner. Hurt by these happening, Abhishek Agarwal is said to have refused to give away the rights to Nagarjuna.
In the first place, such a mass role won’t suit Nagarjuna big time, as he remade some cult mass movies of Malayalam earlier and tasted only flop.
