First Win For India: ‘The Elephant Whisperers’ Wins Oscar!

India wins its first Oscar this year for Best Documentary Short Film. The Elephant Whisperers won the Award at the 95th Academy Awards.

The nominations include “The Elephant Whisperers” — Kartiki Gonsalves and Guneet Monga,
“Haulout” — Evgenia Arbugaeva and Maxim Arbugaev, “How Do You Measure a Year?” — Jay Rosenblatt, “The Martha Mitchell Effect” — Anne Alvergue and Beth Levison and “Stranger at the Gate” — Joshua Seftel and Conall Jones.

The Elephant Whisperers registers the first win for India at Oscars 95. However, All That Breathes failed to win an Oscar in the Best Documentary Feature Film category.
