Daggubati Rana and Venkatesh-starrer ‘Rana Naidu’ web series has been receiving a lot of criticism mainly from the Telugu audience, though the show is one of the tops most watched lists show. The reason is that it has a lot of expletives, abuse and cussing, obscene content, and of course violence. Not many Telugu actors have spoken about ‘Rana Naidu’ but Nani spoke his mind when asked about the criticism it is being subjected to.
Nani said, ‘Rana is daring. He is trying to change things. As a friend, I know his thought process. When everyone is doing it, why don’t we do it.. is how Rana thinks. And when he wants to do something new, he might face hurdles and obstacles and also see it misfire. But greater things are also done by the people like him. When it works out one day, he will be a pioneer, not a follower. And when you are a pioneer, you have to face a lot of heat than a follower does.’
Nani’s word about Rana Naidu is in fact true. Telugu audiences liked content like Mirzapur even when it has the ‘raw’ elements, but Rana Naidu is facing judgment. The reason might be because the cussing in Hindi is what the viewers got used to over a period of time and when it is being watched in Telugu, the ‘Pacchi boothulu’ are hard to sink in. But Rana started it now, who knows one day it will be mentioned as the first one in the list of hundreds.
When asked about his ’90 ml’, the Dasara star also said if one is afraid of criticism and does not do what he wanted to, he will regret it at a later point when someone else does it and gets all the appreciation.
