Kantara was one of the biggest hits at the Indian box office last year. It was initially slated for a Kannada release but after getting a massive response, the makers decided to dub it in other major languages as well. It was received well in other states too and became a blockbuster at the box office.
Kantara was made with a mere budget of Rs. 16 crores and went on to collect more than 300 crores in theatres. It was one of the most profitable ventures in Indian cinema. Kantara was written and directed by Rishab Shetty. He was also the lead hero in it.
A few weeks ago, Rishab confirmed that he will be making a prequel to it. The script work has started the other day on the occasion of Ugadi. Rishab shared the news on social media and wished everyone a happy Ugadi.
Kantara 2 will be produced by Hombale Films. Saptami Gowda will play the female lead in it. Ajneesh Loknath will compose the music for it. Details about the rest of the cast and crew are expected to be announced soon.
