Jagan’s Fibrenet – Will Tollywood Fall In This Net?

From a time, the newly formed state of AP is trying to bring out various interesting stuff and one of them is The Andhra Pradesh State Fibernet Limited, where broadband internet connection is being provided to the middle class at cut-throat prices. And now, they want to launch a system where just released films could be streamed through the ‘Fibernet’ as well such that people in villages and towns could see the movies on release day itself.

The other day, APSFL chairman P. Gowtham Reddy along with actors Posani Krishna Murali, Ali and producer C Kalyan have announced that they are planning to release some small films through Fibernet directly on Release day itself. They have welcomed Tollywood to utilise this offer such that the common man who couldn’t go to the theatre would watch the film directly at his home. Posani even expressed his desire to see Megastar Chiranjeevi’s film released through fiber net. So, will Tollywood utilise this net?

Frankly speaking, there is no point in releasing a film of Fibernet on the release day. Anyway, the audience are going to get the film streamed on OTTs within 30 days of the release, so most of them would wait to watch the movie there. Also if a film is released straight on fiber net on the release day itself, then the anticipation for a theatrical watch will come down, and distributors-exhibitors will not agree to that. These are the hurdles for now for Tollywood to take up this offer.
