Ravibabu: I’ve A Love Affair With Heroine Poorna

While we don’t categorise him as a versatile actor, surely he is that versatile director who is going to thrill the audience with the kind of films he makes. From the likes of romantic-comedy like Allari, to action-thriller Anasuya to horror film Avunu, Ravi Babu is a creative name that Tollywood is quite familiar with. And his next film “Asalu” is releasing straight on a new OTT platform, ETV’s WIN and here is a comment made by the director in this regard. 

Heroine Poorna, who was originally Shamna Khasim, debuted with a film opposite Allari Naresh, but then she actually shot to fame with Ravi Babu’s Avunu movie only. Though she hasn’t turned out to be a successful heroine in the Telugu industry, she got noticed for Ravibabu’s movies like Avunu series and Laddu Babu. Talking about roping her for Asalu as well, the director-actor said, “I have this love affair with Poorna, not the one people think like. That’s usual for directors loving particular actors who deliver 200% better output than what we actually visualise. Poorna is such a gem”. 

Ravibabu’s Asalu is a murder mystery that deals with the story of a criminal whose crime couldn’t be proved by the people around him though everyone knows that he is the killer. Though the director has written this story, the film was directed by his assistants, Uday and Suresh, while Ravibabu limited himself to acting.
