Kantara 2: Here’s A Spicy Update

Kannada cinema recently experienced a new wave of success with the action-thriller movie, Kantara. Written and directed by Rishab Shetty, alongside Vijay Kiragandur from Hombale Films producing, this film featured Shetty as a Kambala champion.

As well as succeeding in the Kannada Box Office, it was also met with notable commercial success in Telugu and Hindi areas. Following the movie’s accomplishment, Rishab Shetty announced he was working on Kantara 2; said to be a prequel to the original. Now there have been further developments suggesting that production on Kantara 2 might begin this year!

A reliable source within the entertainment industry has reported that Rishab Shetty has completed a draft of the prequel to his previously successful production, Kantara. It is again, an ambitious project involving himself and Hombale Films, and steps are being taken to ensure no detail has been left out.

Rishab’s team reportedly expressed satisfaction with the first draft and he will take extra time now to make any needed improvements prior to locking in the final version. In tandem with this, research and other pre-production mandates such as costume requirements and location scouting are also taking place.

Rishab Shetty divulged that the idea behind creating a prequel of Kantara was sparked during the making of its first movie. He stated, “The backstory of Kantara has so much more to explore.” At this point, we are still researching the full depth of this project. Until more work is done and conclusions can be drawn, it would be premature to share any specific insights about the movie.
