One of the biggest upsets for Samantha in recent times was none other than the failure of Shaakuntalam at the box office. Despite a sizable budget of Rs 65 crore, Shaakuntalam only managed to accumulate a meagre Rs 20 crore. Consequently, the movie was declared a box-office failure. So what will happen to this film on OTT, as it is getting ready to be premiered.

Samantha Ruth Prabhu’s prior film releases Jaanu, Yashoda, and Shaakuntalam didn’t perform very well at the box office. However, her OTT ventures like talk-show Sam Jam and The Family Man: Season 2 were very successful. Now that Shaakuntalam’s movie is premiering on an OTT platform, fans are wondering if it will replicate the same level of success as her other two projects. Shaakuntalam is set to be released on the streaming giant Amazon Prime Video in India on Friday, May 12th. If the film fails to click on the OTT arena, surely it is going to be a big setback for the actress.

Moreover, at the moment, Samantha is creating buzz for her battle with her ex-husband Naga Chaitanya through indirect satires. Interviews and Insta Stories have become the most popular way for them to communicate indirectly for her these days. While all of them didn’t Shaakuntalam at the box office, we have to see if they will do on the OTT circuit.
