The Malayalam film industry is going through a rough patch this year. Barring the February release Romancham, none of the big Malayalam releases proved to be successful at the box office in 2023. Finally, after a long gap, Mollywood witnessed a hit in the form of 2018.
Directed by Jude Anthany Joseph, 2018 is a film based on the Kerala floods of 2018. It traces how the entire state came together and stood against the deadly floods. The movie focuses on humanity and empathy. It features an ensemble of cast which includes Tovino Thomas, Kunchacko Boban, Asif Ali, Vineeth Sreenivasan and Lal.
2018 was released on May 5 and received unanimous positive response from the audience. Even the collections are great and the film is set to become a super hit at the box office. It is expected that 2018 may end up collecting more than 50 crores by the end of its theatrical run. This film is produced by Venu Kunnappilly, C. K. Padma Kumar and Anto Joseph.
