The Andhra Pradesh High Court has issued an important order dismissing G.O. number one, which was introduced by the YCP government on January 2nd of this year. The G.O. aimed to prohibit rallies and road shows, specifically targeting TDP chief Chandrababu Naidu’s activities. The dismissal of G.O. 1 came after the CPI party’s general secretary, Ramakrishna, approached the AP High Court to challenge the order.
During the multiple hearings, the state government defended its position by referring to the deaths that occurred during Chandrababu Naidu’s road shows. However, the opposition argued that this order unfairly restricted their ability to connect with the public.
Ramakrishna stated, “G.O. 1 is an attempt by the YCP government to hinder opposition parties and does not apply to the ruling party.”
The High Court concluded the arguments on January 24th and reserved its verdict. This morning, the High Court pronounced the dismissal of G.O. 1, marking a significant setback for the YCP government. It is worth noting that there are reports suggesting that the YCP government may approach the Supreme Court in response to this ruling.
