The Malayalam film industry has been going through a rough patch for the last few months. Many theatres are being shut down due to the lack of business. Even in 2023, the Malayalam film industry witnessed only two hits at the box office. Even though 2018 became an industry hit, it alone is not enough to save the theatrical business. Many such hits have to be delivered on a trot.
Thus, there are high expectations around star hero Fahadh Faasil’s new film Dhoomam. Directed by Pawan Kumar of U-Turn fame, this movie hit the screens on Friday. After 2018, Dhoomam is the big film that hit the theatres. But, the audiences and critics expressed unfavorable opinions of the film.
Dhoomam was originally supposed to be released in all South Indian languages. But the makers decided to release Kannada and Malayalam versions first. Depending on the mouth talk, they will release Tamil and Telugu versions. Hombale Films of KGF fame produced Dhoomam.
The audiences are criticizing that the film lacks an intriguing plot and the director wasted the talent of many actors who could not save the film from sinking.
